Are Valances for You?

Valances are one of the many options for window treatments. There are many styles and can be tailored or gathered. They can be used alone or paired with shades and/or panels.

Valances should be the right scale for your windows and room, so they don’t look too skimpy or too large but just right. In this room vertical lines for the fabric and tassel trim also add to the visual length of the valances. This client wanted a clean simple look without panels or a lot of fabric, and these custom valances certainly added the needed finishing touch, taking her room to the next level.

If you want to add some softness to blinds or shutters, valances can be an option.

Valances can also be a good choice for kid’s rooms where you may not want a lot of fabric low towards the floor

Other rooms where valances work are kitchens, especially on a window above a sink, playrooms, laundry rooms, or any other room when paired with panels.
